Alhambra (CA) Ward

Our next few posts will focus on the historic Alhambra Ward in California. The ward was organized in 1923, but construction on the building started in 1931. Ward members constructed the Spanish Mission building during the Great Depression. It was completed in 1935.

Since that time, the building has had an addition on the north side of the chapel, but its maintained its appearance and character quite well.

A rose window made of stained glass is at the front of the chapel, but it wasn't always there. We'll talk about the history of that window in a future post.

  3. Thank you for posting this. I have a picture dated December 7, 1941 of my grandpa holding his first daughter on her blessing day in front of this building. While I knew it was in the LA area, I wasn’t sure which building it was until I found your blog tonight.
