Laketown Ward: Interior Details

Similar to the Herriman Ward's building, the Laketown Ward's exterior was well-preserved, but the interior is completely redone. The front half of the building on the main floor is the primary room (see below), and the rest of it is divided into small classrooms. I couldn't really find any historical features that were kept.

Meanwhile, I also hopped next door to the 1920s cultural hall to photograph the interior.

This ward (like most other wards around Bear Lake) is so busy in the summer, nearly every room is set up with chairs and video so everyone can participate in sacrament meeting.

The cultural hall even has some classrooms above the main entrance and behind the stage. I really like the feel of this complex of buildings, although I wish some more historical features could have been preserved from the original chapel's interior.

Laketown Ward: Exterior Details

The inscription reads "LDS 1906."

The modern chapel matches the newer cultural hall building much better than the original chapel. It has some nice marbled glass, though, and the lines here match the decorative lines above the original chapel's entrance.

Laketown Ward

I've updated this post and have some more pictures coming. This sandstone, gothic chapel was built from 1906-08, in the center of Laketown (just south of Bear Lake).

By the middle of the century, a small addition was made on the rear, housing classrooms. Just to the building's south, a cultural hall was built.

Now, a modern chapel was built in between the cultural hall (just to the left of this picture) and the original chapel, creating a complex of 3 buildings, all from different time periods and styles. The original chapel has been modified to house classrooms.

Due to crowds I didn't photograph the modern chapel's interior, but it was done nicely. The stained glass lights up the front of the room, and thick wooden beams run along the ceiling.

Another post with some interior photos will come shortly.
