The Cultural Hall was built as the Los Angeles Stake Tabernacle. It was used for stake conferences and cultural events even having a pipe organ. The U shaped courtyard featured a two story north side containing stake offices and some classrooms. There was an elegant room on the south that was known as the stake lounge and hosted many parties. The stake tabernacle was built connecting to the already existing Huntington Park Ward building. The building came about because of the formation of the Hollywood Stake from the north part of the Los Angeles Stake. The stained glass in the cultural hall is a

The Hollywood Stake had the Wilshire Ward chapel which was also their tabernacle. There is an excellent book, MORE FAITH THAN FEAR, by Chad Orton which is history of the Los Angeles stake. It includes a
great deal of information on the early buildings.
