Belvedere Ward (California)

The Belevedere Ward was built in 1925, but it looks considerably different than its original appearance.

The main changes are to the tower (I much preferred the original) and the portion that comes out on the right, which no longer has an entrance. The chapel is on the right in the back, facing south from the rest of the building.

In spite of the heavy remodels, the chapel still has a nice appearance.

  1. My father joined the CoJCoLDS (sheesh--"Mormon" was SO much simpler) about 1935 and told us he attended the Belvedere Ward (he was from East L.A.). He and our family eventually settled in Hemet but to my knowledge we never saw the building where he began his Church membership. Thank you for posting these pictures, especially the upper one.

  3. I also attended Belvedere ward in East Los Angeles it became a spanish speaking ward l believe in the 50's or 60's. My parents joined the church in 1971 in LA and we first attended Ditman branch also a spanish speaking
Unit of the church eventually Ditman branch was closed and we were united with the Belvedere ward, the Belvedere building was much bigger than the Ditman bldg. All this happened i the mid 70's eventually the ward grew very big when it was divided into Belvedere 1st ward, Belvedere 2nd ward and Montebello ward and San Gabriel branch all spanish speaking this happened in 1980-81. My name is Toby Ramirez.
