Six pairs of windows line the left side of the chapel. Each one has a different image relating to Christianity and LDS theology.

At the front of the chapel is a beautiful window of Christ knocking at the door.
This window was actually based off of William Holman Hunt's painting,
The Light of the World, and you can see the resemblance.
I'm so happy that this building continues to be used regularly.
Absolutely beautiful! I grew up in Wilshire Ward during the 50s to 60s and these stained glass are a forever part of my cherished memories and the beginning of my testimony of Jesus Christ. Thank you for sharing your amazing ability to capture such beauty.
ReplyDeleteSo this is a more historic building. Any idea why the church doesn't use stained glass in its modern buildings?
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of reasons, including that it went out of mainstream churches in the mid 19th century, that meetinghouses became more standard plan which didn't include ornate artwork or stained glass, and a sensibility in the Church that has always made the use of artwork a bit more restrained in religious settings.
