Torrey is one of a number of small towns in Sevier County, near Capitol Reef National Park. Its original church & schoolhouse log building was constructed in 1898.

The building was used as a school until 1917, and as a chapel until 1928. In the 1980s, the Church told the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers organization that they could have the building if they moved it off Church property, and they did so.
It's one of the few examples of log buildings from that era that are still standing.
My maternal grandfather was raised in the area near the region of Capital Reef, Boulder Mountain and Wayne county. Torrey is not too far away. There were/are several relatives in that town.
